Time to Play Catch Up

Yes, it's correct, I have fallen FAR behind in my blogging. Tyler has been telling me for the past couple weeks that I need to update it and get started back into it. With not having much to do every day here in Minnesota, I can't say I really have any excuses so I figured it was about time. Considering my last post was in April, I definitely have a lot of catching up to do. I'll start with a few random pictures.

MSI did a lot of activities with the team Tyler was going to sale with before summer actually started to try and create some team bonding. We were able to go and have a great time!

The girls all got tired and had fun just watching the guys

These are the only pictures I have from our little weekend away in SLC helping out at the hunting expo this spring. It was fun to be able to hang out with Tyler's parents and he of course enjoyed helping out all the red necks. Tyler likes to claim this is one of our new traditions....I must admit, I wouldn't mind :)

Another MSI pre-summer event...going to the Mariner's vs. Rockies game in SLC. After the game we got to meet up for dinner with our friends Nick and Morgan Beynon. Unfortunately, we've had yet to take any pictures with the two of them whenever we do anything. Next time guys, next time.

Easter came and went...forgetting to post the pictures. But hey, better late than never! We were able to spend one of the last holidays home before summer by having a barbecue at my Aunt Shawna's and then going to Old Main Hill to roll Easter eggs. Tyler had never heard of anyone doing this, I figured everyone knew about it because it was a tradition I had grown up with. Little did I know that every boy that married into our family (Matt, Chris, Nate) all knew nothing of the sort until they came with our crazy family. It's one tradition that I love even if it is silly!

(just missing Amber and Brody!) It was a good, fun-filled day. We were even able to stop by Tyler's grandparents later that night and spend a little time with his side of the family.

Tender Mercies

Our family has experienced a splurge of tender mercies from the Lord lately! There may only be 3 really big things that I'm gonna share, but just so you all know, there's also been very many little things that Tyler and I couldn't be more grateful for that are happening in our lives right now.

1-Zumba:
I've been a licensed Zumba instructor for about 10 months now...not really sure what I was supposed to do with it or even if I was going to take it anywhere. I pay a monthly fee to keep my license from expiring and receive all sorts of fun stuff to help me promote and do classes, but with school and just every day busy life, I really haven't had the chance to do anything with it like I've wanted. I'd been contemplating for a while to just end my membership and when the year came, my license would expire. Where I didn't have the time to put into it right, I had told Tyler multiple times that I was going to just cancel it but never got around to it. Then the weekend we had really talked about it and I had decided to cancel it all, I get this email from a professor up at USU that was needing my help with a Healthy Lifestyle Benefit her students were putting on.

Tyler was able to snap some pictures :)
They wanted ME to host and instruct a class! Really now!? Just when I thought I was giving up...the Lord had something else in mind. I had so much fun teaching my first class! It was definitely a lot of work though...the professor had contacted me on Thursday night and I had to come up with a playlist and routine around 45 minutes by Tuesday night. Not to mention that Tyler and I were going down to Salt Lake for the weekend so I basically had Sunday and Monday to prepare. Tyler had a blast listening to all my Zumba music just about 24/7 for 3 straight days...:) I guess the Lord wasn't gonna let me give up just yet. So now my plan is to hopefully find something this summer where I can teacher on a regular schedule (since I might actually have time!) and then continue teaching in the Fall when we return from Colorado. It may seem silly to some of you, but it ended up being one of those things that you know just came from somebody above. I'm truly thankful for the opportunity to open my eyes to something I could potentially really love doing!

2-Mexico Familia:
Tyler has kept in contact with a dear family from his mission that was very close to him. They were members that just always took the best care of him and his companions. They had the opportunity to come to Utah for General Conference weekend and they even made the trip up to Logan to spend Friday afternoon with us! There was 16 of them that traveled across the scary border to the U.S. and only one of them speaking fluent English. The dad works in Texas just about everyday and travels back and forth across the border so he is very good at speaking and understanding English. One of the teenage girls attends school in Texas as well to learn English so she understands a lot of it and speak quite well, but was too shy to really ever do so. There was a lot of Spanish rambling going on that Tyler's parents and I had no clue what they were saying, but it was still such a fun and neat experience.

Apparently, there were many things that went wrong and the family almost gave up trying to come to Utah. But I'm sure with the helping hand of the Lord, they were able to make it. And boy am I so glad they came! Although I could hardly understand any of them, they had such a strong spirit that they brought with them. A bunch of truly humble and kind people that don't come around too often. We were able to have a little barbecue out at Tyler's parents and show them around the farm. Lots of laughs, mumbled English and Spanish from both sides, as well as tears were shared that day. It was an incredible experience to be a part of! They were such a huge part of Ty's life and I've heard so much about them that it was so neat to be able to finally put a name with a face and get a sense of what genuine people they are. (Unfortunately I didn't have my camera so I wasn't able to take any pictures, but Lori did so I'll have to snag some from her and post later :) ) I will be forever grateful to the Aguirre family for taking such good care of Tyler while he was on his mission and being such great examples to not only him but now me!

3-Our Townhome:
This is a BIG one.

We  have been in search of someone to rent our townhome for the summer while we are gone this summer so that we didn't have to move out and worry about finding somewhere new when we return. However, we have had no such luck! Finally, we had decided that we were just going to call our landlord and tell her our situation and try to get out of our contract a month early. Well, we could only get out of our contract early if we found someone to take over in May, otherwise we'd be stuck in it until June. Great! Just our luck...we're horrible at finding people. So she told us to call her back in the morning and let her know what we wanted to do. BUT get this...the next morning, she calls Tyler and not only do we have one option we have TWO!!

A girl had called her looking for someone to rent for the summer and was worried because they didn't have a lot of furniture or things so was there anything she had available. This could not have turned out to be a more perfect situation. We are now able to leave all our furniture (minus our bed) here for them to use and have our place to come back to after summer. Talk about a gift from God. I am still in awe over the situation! We have truly been so blessed and I am so happy we found the perfect couple to live in our townhome. I'm still a little iffy on leaving all my important stuff, including the place I live, to someone else for 4 months, but I don't think we could've found a nicer couple.
She has been going to school in Provo and her fiancĂ© lives here in the Valley. Um perfect situation for us, right?! Don't worry, she also tells Tyler that she had another call from a girl that they were looking to start renting in May. Really now?! We had two options right open and available for us to take. Tyler immediately called me and we both knew we'd be crazy to not meet the cute girl and her fiancĂ© who wanted to live somewhere just for summer. It has ended up being just what we needed.

As you can see, this Munk household has been full of tender mercies from the Lord! Our lives have truly been blessed and my heart couldn't be more full of gratitude right now! Isn't it amazing how the Lord works sometimes?! :)

We are as happy as can be

One of those girls...

Already missing the goof.

Call me pathetic, I know.  I myself have made fun of "those girls" before as well. But hey, I just can't help it. From the time we started dating each other a year and half ago, Tyler and I haven't gone longer than 3 days without seeing each other. Sappy love story, right?

Well, we now have started the journey of making it one whole week. That's right folks, one full week! It's only night one and I'm already asking if it's time for him to come home.

I hate sleeping alone.
I don't like silence..especially at night.
I'm afraid of the dark-yes, it's true. That's why having a husband at night truly is like my night and shining armor :)
I don't like waking up alone &
I surely hate having no one to come home to.

Who knew that I'd end up being "one of those girls" who seems to not be able to live without her boy once I got married? I guess in a way that's a good thing though, right? :) I'll toughen up and make it through though...right? I can't even start to think about how awful a whole month is going to be.....I'll just focus on this week first :) Miss and love you hubby of mine. Only 6 more nights of sleeping alone here we come!

Love him.

*Warning: this is a long and somewhat mushy post :)*

Story of us....

Tyler and I went to high school together, but never dated. We were friends, our friends were friends, and I even dated a lot of his friends. We claim we both had a tiny crush on one another but never did anything about it...we were too busy dating other people. But I always say that if we would have dated it high school, it probably wouldn't have lasted. I guess that's why they say things happen for a reason right?

Fast forward a couple years...Tyler served a mission in Chihuahua, Mexico from 2009-2011 about the same time I was busy waiting for another missionary and being a nanny in California.

I came home for the week for my missionary's homecoming and this was the first time Tyler and I saw each other since he left for his mission. He claims he eyed me down until he finally got me to come over...which may have been true, but I gave him the hug first so I say we're about even. Long story short, things didn't work out with the missionary, we both knew we needed to go down other paths. But I can't say I'm not glad I waited it out just to see. I learned a lot about myself in those 2 years, dating other guys and figuring out what I wanted in my future husband. Plus, I don't think I would have "met" Tyler again either.

We ended up hanging out that weekend before I flew back to California..while I must add, Tyler was technically on a date with another girl. But that night we stayed up until 3 a.m. texting and from that night on, we texted every day without fail once I left Utah. I had a weeks vacation coming up because the 2 boys I nannied grandparents were coming to visit. So what did I decide to do? Of course fly home (I'm pretty sure that's what I spend half my money on that I made..flying back and forth from home to Cali).

My first night back home, Tyler stayed home to do all his homework so he could hang out with me the rest of my week there. Well guess what folks? That's exactly what happened. The entire remainder of my week home...we spent every night hanging out. My parents would probably claim that it was more than just every night considering the fact that I wouldn't come home until 2 or 3 a.m....but hey, I was only there for a week, I had to make the best of it. That was it. We were done for! Saying goodbye that Sunday was one of the hardest things I had to do. But yet at the time, I wasn't quite sure why.

Only a couple days later had I figured it out. I couldn't stay in California anymore. It was time for me to go home for good. This seemed crazy at the time because I felt like there wasn't much there for me. I had taken a year off of school, I didn't have a job, and I loved my life in Cali at the time! But yet, I knew it still was what I needed to do. Only one little mystery...I hadn't told Tyler. I was keeping it a secret. Why might you ask? Let me tell you....

The weekend I was coming home for good was the weekend of my dear friend Haley's birthday. Haley is one of my greatest friends that I met out in Cali. We were both nannying out there and became inseparable. She had invited me to come back to Utah with her for the weekend long before I had decided to come home for good. This was my perfect opportunity! Ty had told me time and time again that he would drive down to Sandy (where Haley's hometown is) just to see me before I had to go back to work. I had loved the idea at first..until I decided to come home that is. So folks, I had to tell a little fib. I wouldn't let him come see me and when it was time for my parents to pick me up and drive me home while I sent Haley back on a plane to Cali, I led Tyler to believe that I was getting on the plane right along with her. However, about 2 1/2 hours later, I was walking through the door of Tyler's house while he had just sat down to eat a bowl of pot roast and potatoes.
That was it my dear friends! From that moment on the two of us were literally attached at the hip. We spent every day and every night together. I think the longest we went without seeing each other the whole time we dated was 2, maybe 3 days. We dated for an entire year until we finally tied the knot. Just like every couple does, we had our ups and our downs, but neither of us would have changed the way things worked out. By Christmas time we were talking marriage and that October we sealed the deal.

I couldn't have found a better best friend and eternal companion! Tyler spoils me with love. He knows when to hold my hand and say I love you, he tells me I'm pretty even when I'm sweaty and gross, he rubs my feet and tickles my back, he makes me laugh, he knows just what I'm trying to say even when I make no sense at all, he deals with my mood swings with a smile on his face...as you can see the list goes on and on. He's been my best friend for almost a year and half now and will be for the rest of eternity. I'm one of the lucky ones who's able say I'm in love with my best friend, forever and always!

Here we go again...

Well folks, here I go with starting the whole new blogging thing again. I loved my other blog..when I actually kept it updated..because it was my way of keeping a journal of my life. Since I've gotten married, I figured it would be best to just start fresh with a whole new one. I'm going to try my best to keep it updated..but we all know that sometimes never happens how we want it to. But with us moving to Colorado this summer, I figured it would be a good time to start. So, to start it all off, I think I'll start with how this Munk family got started :) Post to come....
